Prof Dewald Roode
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Prof. Dewald Roode who passed away on Sunday 27 September 2009. Professor Roode was a part-time research professor in our department since 2002 and will be greatly missed for his academic input in the doctoral and research programs.
Professor Dewald Roode has pioneered the field of Information Systems in the Southern Hemisphere through transferring his extensive knowledge to a host of academics at various universities in South Africa. He has mentored more than 30 doctoral students, empowering them to supervise their own students. He has achieved global recognition during his career, as evidenced by his being bestowed with the LEO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008, which is considered the highest international recognition for an Information Systems professional.
