Corné van Walbeek
After studying actuarial science and statistics in his
undergraduate years, Corné van Walbeek switched to economics in
his postgraduate studies. He holds a M.Com. from the University
of Stellenbosch and a PhD from the University of Cape Town. He taught at the University of Stellenbosch for
six years, after which he worked for a large fruit exporting
company for three years. In 2000 he joined UCT, first as a
researcher and later as a lecturer in the department.
