My favourite shots of the first day: the ferny trees in the mist (clouds) - a nice moody picture

Jean-Paul's taking a break on the way up (day 2)

With the video camera in hand inbetween the heather (day 2)

The vegetation along the route - second day.

Eva & Jean-Paul against the backdrop of Uhuru Peak at Barranco Camp

I love this plant. Don't ask me what it is (taken early on day 3).

The approach to Lava Rock Camp where we spent our third night.

The Western Breach: this is where Arrow Glacier Route takes you up (centre of the picture)

A closer look at the Western Breach from Arrow Glacier hut, where we spent the fourth night.

On our way up the Arrow Glacier route. Just a little acclimatising trip the afternoon on the fourth day, before the real ascent at 2:00 am the next moring)

A rather low-quality shot of ourselves at the Furtwangler Glacier, at the Rim on top of Kilimanjaro - just before altitude sickness got to me.

WE MADE IT TO THE TOP! Freddy, Jean-Paul, Eva and Isaac at Uhuru Peak, 5895 m above sea-level, 4 October 2001.

Eva in front of South Glacier on her way down from Uhuru Peak

A close-up of South Glacier (on the way down from Uhuru Peak).

Eva and Freddy arrive at the finish, down at Mweka. This is the end of the trip!

Going back home (or rather, back to the swimming pool and bar at the Keys Hotel in Moshi). The mad rush is a bit of a culture shock.
