Postgraduate students to receive more than R90 million in funding
Students wishing to pursue their PhD, Masters and Honours degrees through the
Faculty of Commerce in 2010 will be heartened to know that UCT is actively
seeking to secure funds for financial assistance to help them succeed.
Acting Dean of Commerce Professor John Simpson said: “There has never been a
better time for graduates to do Postgraduate study in the Faculty of Commerce.
We have already noticed an upswing in applications, as many graduates consider
it wise to upskill during the recession to ensure that they can benefit from the
upturn when it happens.”
The Faculty encourages students to attend the Postgraduate Funding Roadshow for
Commerce students, which will happen in Menzies LT 9 on Thursday 27 August
during Meridian.
The university aims to provide financial assistance that will contribute towards
the tuition and accommodation. This goal requires more financial resources that
the university has available. It is therefore vital that students needing
assistance approach as many sources as possible in addition to applying to UCT.
It is important that students attend the RoadShow, consult the PGC&FO and visit
the Postgraduate Funding webpage (click here) to find out about what
opportunities are available, as well as details relating to the criteria and
application processes.
