Dear Applicant
Thank you for your enquiry to do the Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting in
2009.
You will be accepted for admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in
Accounting, provided that you have met the following:
- You are a graduate or will be before commencing the course and
- That you have done the appropriate undergraduate courses (i.e. the
courses of the Bachelor Business Science Finance (CA option) or B Com
(CA option), have completed the PGDM (Accounting Conversion Course) or
completed the PGDM (Financial Accounting), and
- Have met the entrance criteria as specified in the Faculty of
Commerce handbook, and reproduced below:
FGDA1.1
A graduate of this University who has completed the prescribed courses
for the BCom degree (CA option), the BBusSc degree (Business Finance CA
Option), Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Accounting Conversion
Course) or postgraduate Diploma in Management (Financial Accounting),
and who has obtained: a minimum mark of 55% in Financial Reporting III
in the preceding year and an average mark of 55% for the following
courses:
Auditing I, Financial Reporting III, Taxation & Estate Duty I,
Management Accounting II and Financial Management (or BUS4083W Finance
Honours Selected Topics), written in the preceding year or one year
prior to the preceding year.
Students currently registered at UCT and wishing to apply for the 2009
PGDA must complete a UCT Form 5 which may be obtained from the
Admissions Office, Kramer Bldg or download UCT Form 5 from the
UCT website:

The PGDA programme commences on Friday 6 February 2009 with registration at
2pm in LS2A, Leslie Social Science Building (venue to be confirmed – see
PGDA notice board, 5th level, Leslie Commerce Bldg before Friday 6th Feb).
Registration will be followed by an introductory lecture at 4pm and
cocktails thereafter in Room 614, Leslie Commerce Bldg. A detailed letter
setting out the calendar for the year and various other administration
matters will be mailed to you, if and when, you have been accepted onto the
programme.
