Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) [COMG10]
The Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) is a one year programme that prepares students for the Qualifying Examination (Part 1) set by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). The programme is only offered on a full-time study basis.
PGDA courses:
UCT courses offered as preparation for the PGDA
UCT offers the following programme as preparation for the PGDA:
- B Com (Chartered Accounting Stream), or
- Bachelor of Business Science Finance (CA option), or
- PGDM (Financial Accounting), or
- PGDM (Accounting Conversion Course)
Graduation in any one of the above options is an entrance requirement to the PGDA
Entry Requirements
The entrance criteria for the Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) is offered by UCT for each of the three categories of students interested in completing the UCT PGDA:
Category 1A : UCT Graduates
Students that have successfully completed their undergraduate degree being either B.Com ACA (CA stream)), B.BusSci FCA (Finance CA Stream), PGDM (Conversion Course) or PGDM (Financial Accounting) at UCT
Category 1B : UCT Graduates
Students that have successfully completed their undergraduate degree being either B.Com GAS (General Accounting stream) or BBusSci FNC (Finance non-CA stream))
Category 2 : Transferring students with SAICA accredited degree
Students that have successfully completed their SAICA accredited undergraduate degree at another institution (i.e. Not UCT).
Category 3 : Transferring students with an accounting degree/major that is not part of a SAICA accredited undergraduate program.
Students that have successfully completed a Financial accounting undergraduate degree at another institution, where the degree is not accredited by SAICA
