ACC3023S - Management Accounting II

Introduction

Course Description

Management Accounting 2 follows on from Management Accounting 1, and as such is meant to focus on advanced aspects of material covered in Management Accounting 1, as well as other advanced topics. Management Accounting 2 is also meant to bridge the gap between Management Accounting 1 and Management Accounting & Finance at the Post Graduate level. The course is also designed to enable students, after graduating, to obtain exemptions from professional courses such as Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Our Commitment to the Course

We commit ourselves to giving each student an opportunity to further develop their analytical skills, as well as enhance their application of concepts and principles to real life management accounting problems. A course navigator will be given to each student to provide a comprehensive guide to the topics that will be covered, as well as tutorials that are carefully selected to give students the necessary application of concepts and principles. We will be available for consultation during the times specified as shown on each lecturers office door. Our details are as follows:

Your Commitment to the Course

  • Students are expected to do a lot of reading and summarising on their own, relying on the prescribed textbook and the students manual. All prescribed tutorials are in the textbook and most of the solutions are in the students manual. Students are expected to go through (read) lecture examples to understand details of each problem, before coming to the lecture so that they will be able to follow when the lecturer demonstrates how the solutions are provided.

  • Students are required to attend tutorials. It is the responsibility of students to go through all the prescribed tutorials. Refer to the course programme for details.

  • Students are also expected to read the prescribed case studies and answer questions that relate to the issues raised in the case studies.
