ACC1011S
- Financial Reporting 1
Course Information
Course Description
Financial Reporting 1 covers the second half of the first year accounting syllabus.
The standard of Financial Reporting 1 has been set to the level required for those intending to become Chartered Accountants and it is, therefore, an extremely demanding course.
Aims of the course
Financial accounting is predominantly an applied discipline, which is based on broad conceptual principles mastered in Financial Accounting.
Students will be expected to apply these principles with a high level of technical competence. It is therefore of utmost importance that students develop a sound understanding of these conceptual principles to be able to apply them
practically. Furthermore, as numerous issues in financial accounting remain unresolved, students will be encouraged and expected to debate such issues.
Notes
ACC1011S Financial Reporting 1 is a bridging course between ACC1006F
Financial Accounting and ACC2012W Financial Reporting 2. If you intend to,
or want the option to, take Financial Reporting 2 in 2009, you must register
for ACC1011S in 2008. You will need to obtain a mark of 60% or more in
ACC1011S to gain entrance into Financial Reporting 2. If, however, you do
not want to go beyond first-year accounting, it is highly recommended that
you do ACC1012S Business Accounting instead of ACC1011S, because Business
Accounting is a course specifically designed for students who will be ending
their accounting studies in 2008.
ACC1011S makes extensive use of
Vula, and so, once you
are registered for the course, please refer to the Vula site, NOT this one,
for important information.
