Morné Oosthuizen has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of the Development Policy Research Unit in 2006.


In January 2009 I attended the Sixth Meeting of the Working Group on Macroeconomic Aspects of Intergenerational Transfers, held at the University of California – Berkeley, San Francisco, USA. This meeting formed part of the National Transfer Accounts Project, in which 28 countries are participating. The DPRU will be constructing National Transfer Accounts for South Africa as part of an AERC-IDRC project involving four other African countries, namely Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria and Senegal. The meeting was followed by a one-week hands-on workshop.

In April 2008, I attended a two-week Labour Market Policy Core Course entitled "Jobs for a Globalizing World" presented by the World Bank Institute in Washington DC.
