Short BioFull CV

During the course of 2006 I was involved with the CAGE (Conflict and Governance Facility) funded study called "Measuring and Understanding Poverty and Inequality Shifts in Post-Apartheid South Africa: An Asset Index Approach". The study aims to measure access to services and ownership of assets as an indicator of poverty and inequality. using econometric techniques we will construct an appropriately weighted asset poverty index and asset poverty line.

I have been involved in the compilation of a labour market report for the Department of Trade and Industry and this project also entails the production of three more labour market reports up to the end of the year.

2005
I attended a workshop on 20-23 June 2005 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania entitled "Regional Training Workshop in Africa on Pro-Poor Macroeconomic Policies"

The workshop was held to complement the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) regional programme in Africa on Economic Policies and Poverty Reduction. There is a need to do some in-depth training on pro-poor macroeconomics for national counterparts, such as government officials and CSO representatives, as well as for UNDP staff. The objective of this workshop was to test learning modules that are currently being developed and can subsequently be used by the RBA to build capacity on pro-poor macroeconomics. The training modules developed for this workshop can be used for subsequent training sessions for the regional programme or for other regional programmes or national-level projects. Topics included Pro-poor Economic Growth, Pro-poor Fiscal and Monetary Policies, and Employment and Poverty.
