1. What is stress:
- External demands exceed my ability to respond or cope with them O/H
- Therefore: stress management is learning new strategies and improving
existing ones
- Psycho-physiology of stress: some theories (O/H stress graph)
- Talk about this definition can they apply this to their lives? Any
examples of too many demands?
2. Exercise: symptomatology on O/H
- Little groups: make lists of symptoms
- think about symptoms of stress, can they identify symptoms, name some ?
give examples ?
3. Discussion:
- Affirm their self-knowledge
- Normalise
- Highlight: symptoms found :
1. physical/somatic complaints how we feel in our bodies
2. emotional how we feel
3. behavioural how we behave
=> distinguish behaviours as a result of the stress or as attempts to
self-regulate and cope with stress
