Course Overview



Effective people management is a key driver of competitive advantage and organizational success. This course aims to enable you to use and develop people management skills and insights in your future strategic decision-making.

Learning Outcomes


After completion of this course, you should be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the people management partnership between business strategy and human resource strategy. This will involve formulating a resource-based argument for the role of people in determining organisational success and the potential partnering relationship between the HR function and line management function in respect to people management
  2. Describe how different people management processes form a value-adding chain and assess the importance of each for a given organisational context.
  3. Construct a compelling argument that cites relevant evidence and shows that correctly implementing best practices in people management adds value to the implementation of business strategy
  4. Outline key contemporary issues in people management within the South African business context and be able to discuss these with reference to both theory and case examples.
