- Project and Operations Management
WelcomeThis course introduces student to operations
management as a functional discipline and focuses on manufacturing
processes. It also introduces a project based management approach to
manufacturing management and expands the role of these approaches to
other areas of general management study.
The course will cover the following topics:
A. Project Management and Planning
1. Planning as a management process: types of
planning; planning techniques; the planning process
2. Project planning: work breakdown structures; planning
activities and tasks; identifying dependencies; estimating
resource requirements; identifying project paths; reviewing the
project plan; planning tools.
3. Monitoring and evaluating: What needs to be monitored? How to
monitor? Approaches to monitoring; Methods of monitoring;
Adjusting and making modifications
B. Manufacturing management
1. Introduction to manufacturing management,
strategy and new product design
2. Manufacturing processes; design, mapping and layout
3. Manufacturing planning, quality and control systems
4. Manufacturing logistics; inventory, purchasing and supply
chain management
5. Process Improvement
