Title: Cellphone banking: Predictors of consumer adoption in South Africa, and comparisons with Internet banking
Irwin Brown worked in the Zimbabwe telecommunications industry before going to Australia to study for a Master of Information Systems degree at Curtin University of Technology. At Curtin began his academic career which subsequently lead to a lecturing position at the Polytechnic of Namibia, and ultimately a similar position at UCT.
He has since established research interests in strategic information systems planning (the topic of his proposed PhD research) and end user technology adoption. Together with teams of IS Honours students, research has been conducted in these areas, leading to several articles being accepted at international conferences and in international journals.
TOPIC
In this seminar, findings from two such studies will be discussed and compared.
Using a framework based on the theory of planned behaviour, factors influencing the adoption of cellphone banking, and that of Internet banking will be specifically addressed. Implications of the findings, and limitations of the research will also be discussed.
