Course entry requirements:

Students should be in the 2nd or 3rd academic year of study or a Semester Study Abroad student.

Objective:

This course is available to students registered in faculties other than Commerce who are in their 2nd or 3rd Academic Year of study or Semester Study Abroad students.

Course outline:

This course is designed to provide students who are studying non-business disciplines with an introduction to the main elements of Accounting and Finance. The course includes topics such as the role of Accounting, the Accounting Equation, Financial Statements and Financial Analysis using Accounting Ratios, current issues in Corporate Finance, Time Value of Money and Personal Financial Management.

DP requirements:

Writing both tests, attendance of 80% of all tutorials, attain a minimum of 40% for all objective tests, and 40% for overall coursework.

Assessment:

Coursework %: Objective Tests10%, each test 20% (total 40%), and Exam 50%.
