Education
Jeremy matriculated in 1991 with three distinctions and an 'A'
aggregate on the Cape Senior Certificate, having spent his high school years at
the Diocesan College ('Bishops').
In 1994 he received a BA degree from UCT with majors in
Economics and History. His name appeared on the Dean's Merit list in 1992 and
1994. Jeremy went on to complete Honours in Economics in 1995, sharing the class
prize. He remained at UCT to do a coursework Master's degree, and graduated with
an MA in 1997.
In 1996 Jeremy won the Nedbank/Old Mutual Budget Competition
and Cambridge Scholarship, which enabled him to read for an MPhil Degree in
Economics at the University of Cambridge. This he completed in 1998.
Work
Jeremy was first appointed by UCT in February 1999 as a
temporary lecturer to teach graduate econometrics. In September 1999 he taught
second year monetary policy. He was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the
School of Economics in January 2000, and has been promoted to Senior Lecturer as
of January 2007. He received a Merit Award in 2003.
