Course Information
ECO1011F is a one-semester course for students who have passed ECO1010H,
and/or who are registered for the:
- 4-year B.Comm., or 5-year B.Bus.Sci., in the Commerce Faculty;
or
- 4-year Gateway to the Quantitative Social Sciences in the
Humanities Faculty
This course is designed to enable you to make the adjustment to life on the
mainstream. In lectures we will move much more quickly than we did last year. It
is important that you prepare for the lectures by reading ahead in the textbook.
Much of the work that you have to do will take place in each week’s
double-period tutorial. Tutorials are structured in much the same way as the
tutorials for ECO1010H. However, much more work will be covered each week.
In this course there are fewer opportunities to earn marks, towards your course
mark, during the semester. You will write three tests and these will count 45%
of your final mark. Your tutorials will count 5% of your final mark.
The final examination will be structured a little differently to the ECO1010H
examination. In addition to the multiple-choice questions you will be expected
to answer two or three essay questions.
You are all here because you made a success of ECO1010H. If you apply the study
methods that you learned last year, and you continue to work hard, then you
should enjoy success come June.
Best wishes and good luck
Leonard Smith (Course Convenor)
