2008 Commerce Undergraduate Awards Ceremony

The Dean of the Faculty of Commerce Professor Melvin Ayogu paid credit to some of the faculty's best undergraduate brains at an elegant Awards for Excellence celebration this week.

In addition to the award of the class medals for all undergraduate courses in the faculty, prizes were handed over by representatives from Accenture, Deloitte, Foschini, KPMG and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, amongst others.

Kyle Martin won best student in Information Systems II and Lori Berelowitz took the award for best student in Financial Accounting II, while Maurice Hasson was awarded best student in 2nd year BCom. The top students in the first and second years in Economics were Johannes du Plessis, Caitlin Miles, Evan Bradley and Julian Grieve. Kate Oakley was the top Retail student. Simiso Ngidi collected the Herman Rhoda Prize from Mrs Rhoda for the top AD BCom student in Financial Accounting II. PricewaterhouseCoopers awards for the best academic results and most versatile students on the AD BCom were won by Mbalenhle Ngcobo, Naledi Makiwane, Nomthetho Tshongweni and Precious Dlamini.
