A reminder about the CEG session tomorrow (28 August, 1 - 2 p.m., Leslie Commerce 6.14).

Carla Fourie (EDU Accounting) will be presenting :

"Growing our tutors in and for their role".

"After four years of teacher training and an honours degree in education, I still have moments wondering if I'll ever be fully equipped for this mammoth task of educating our bright young minds at UCT. If I feel this way, how then do my senior students feel at the beginning of a year, when they have been appointed into their new role as a tutor and have three days of tutor training under their belts?

Following my own experience of being reviewed as a student teacher, in 2005 I introduced tutor reviews into the tutorial system for Financial Accounting 1 (now referred to as Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting 1) on the Education Development Unit. I believed that tutor reviews would be an effective tool for continuous tutor training and development as well as skills development that could be transferred into the workplace.

Through tutors sharing their experiences, through a practical example and through your input, I will aim to highlight the benefits of using tutor reviews as a tool for continuous tutor training and development".
