Organisational Psychology
The Organisational Psychology stream of the BBusSc has being extensively
reviewed and been introduced starting 2005.
Organisational Psychology in the School of Management Studies is offering a new
stream in the BBusSc degree for 2005. It is called the Organisational Psychology
Stream and replaces the two old Streams (Organisational Psychology and Human
Resource Management).
So what happens if you were a first or second-year student in 2004?
If you enrol for the first time in 2005, you simply enrol for the Organisational
Psychology Stream.
If you were a second or third-year Organisational Psychology or Human Resource
Management student in 2004 or earlier, you simply slot into the appropriate year
in the new Organisational Psychology Stream.
What does the new undergraduate courses look like?
In the first year, students are exposed to an Introduction to Organisational
Psychology. They learn what the subject area is about (organisations, people and
business processes) and what jobs are available to people who have studied in
this field.
In the second year, we concentrate on the people aspect of Organisational
Psychology and introduce students to Organisational Behaviour & Research. Then
we proceed to two human resource processes, designing an organisation and the
jobs in it and filling those jobs with the right people. The module that covers
these processes is called Organisational Design and Resourcing.
In the third year we continue with the theme of human resource processes and
concentrate on how to train and develop people and create a safe and healthy
work environment. This module is called Organisational Learning and Wellness.
Labour Relations and Organisational Change is the last module we do in the third
year. It deals with the process of building sound relationships with employees
and ends with how we use our knowledge of organisations, people and business
processes to transform the place where we work.
The fourth year is described in the Honours Programme.
