Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Financial Accounting)
The Accounting Graduates'
Bridging Course
Do you wish to become a CA (SA)?
The career opportunities for chartered accountants makes this
professional qualification highly desirable.
Do you have:
- an accounting degree (e.g. BCom, BACC).
The University of Cape Town offers a special one-year full-time
bridging course diploma, known as the Accounting Graduates' Bridging
Course, which is designed to prepare students who have an accounting major
degree for a career in the accounting profession.
On successful completion of the Accounting Graduates'
Bridging Course students will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in
Management (Financial Accounting).
Students who decide to proceed to the Chartered Accountant
qualification and meet the entrance criteria, proceed to the Postgraduate
Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) in the following year.
If you wish to become a Chartered Accountant:
The bridging course provides an excellent preparation for the final
year, the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA), which is done in the
second year. This is followed by a three-year training
contract with an approved auditing firm or an approved training
organisation in commerce and industry. During the training contract you
must complete a specialist course in either auditing or financial
management and must write the qualifying examinations to become a
chartered accountant.
