Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

The curriculum for the BCom(Hons) degree in Actuarial Science extends over at least one year of full time study, and the candidate will be required to complete courses worth not less that 32 points:

8 points of which will consist of: (brackets indicate course points)

  • BUS4027W Actuarial Science III: Assets, Liabilities and Asset-Liabilities Management (6)
  • BUS4013H Actuarial Project (2)

and 24 points from the following courses:

  • ACC1006F Financial Accounting (2)
  • ACC1011S Financial Reporting 1 (2)
  • BUS1034S Professional Communication (Actuarial Science) (2)
  • BUS2016H Actuarial Science I: Financial Mathematics (2)
  • BUS3018F Actuarial Science II: Models (2)
  • BUS3024S Actuarial Science II: Contingencies (2)
  • BUS4028F Actuarial Science III: Financial Economics (2)
  • ECO1010F Microeconomics (2)
  • ECO1011S Macroeconomics (2)
  • STA2004F Statistics 2004 (2)
  • STA2005S Statistics 2005 (2)
  • STA3041F Statistics 3041 (2)
  • STA3043F Statistics 3043 (2)
  • STA3045F Markov Processes and Advanced Time Series (2)

A candidate may obtain credit for up to 14 points in respect of courses completed elsewhere.

Applicants should have completed a first or upper second class degree in Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics (with at least two years of pure mathematics)
